There are 3 FCO posts in the US that have visa sections; New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. I was sure my year working in the Big Apple couldn't be topped but when I was asked to spend a week working in The Windy City the icing was put on the cake.

Although doing my normal job the opportunity to experience a new city in a different way was something I was more than grateful for. The British Consulate in Chicago has a beautiful setting next to the river on The Magnificent Mile and less than a 10 minutes walk was a nice change from my inter-state commute. But it wasn't all work...
