US Open

Today was the 9th day of the US Open Tennis and the first time I have seen live professional tennis. The observant amongst you may remember my posting from Veteran's Day (November last year) when I went up to Flushing Meadows and was outside the complex where they hold the championship. Any takers?

We saw three games; one men's doubles and two men's singles, played to their completion inside Arthur Ashe Stadium: -
  • Hanley/Ullyett (5) beat Melo/Sa 7-5, 6-3
  • Moya (17) beat Gulbis 7-5, 6-2, 6-7, 6-4
  • Djokovic (3) beat Monaco (23) 7-5, 7-6, 6-7, 6-1

A throughly enjoyable day in the glorious sunshine (baking heat), which resulted in a little bit (a lot) of sunburn and a lot of smiling faces (burnt smiling faces).

Welcome to the US Open!
